The Air Force does not authorize the use of this type of wire in military aircraft due to the toxic fumes generated in a fire, which can incapacitate the crew. Although there were no formal restrictions on the use of MIL-W-5086A wire as of early 1991, our stock of MIL-W-5086A wire is depleted. We will now supply MIL-W-22759/16 wire, which meets current and future FAA military requirements.
This premium unshielded aircraft wire is manufactured to MIL-W-22759/16 specification. It features a standard tinned copper conductor and extruded Tefzel (ethylene/tetrafluoroethylene) insulation with a maximum operating temperature of 150°C. This wire is rated for 600 volts.
